The technique of printing an image onto fabric is called DTF (direct to film) printing. In that sense, it's comparable to direct-to-garment (DTG) printing; however, the procedure varies slightly depending on the kind of printer being used. Using a specialized DTF printer, images are printed on PET film, which is subsequently coated with a layer of hot-melt powder adhesive. Heat pressing is then used to transfer the image to different textiles. Precise printing quality control and transfer conditions—particularly the application of white ink technology to improve color vibrancy and image coverage—are crucial to this technology's success in producing high-quality customized printed goods. Not just clothes, but any kind of image may be printed on fabric with DTF printing.
